Re: Anyone started with the NDIS?

@Bunniekins@eth@utopia@Appleblossom@Sophia1

My 11 yr old son Has NDIS package since 2016 for Autism, when I first applied back then we recieved a good package for early intervention, social skills and living skills, then in 2017,when it was due they just extended it till Jan 2018.

We had a review for his plan in December, his plan ran out in January and only went t through beginning May so I had no help for him for 4 months and things got worse, we kept ringing them every week and emailing them to no availabl, then in April, my workers contacted them multiple times a weekand told it was being escalated up to urgent but still nothing first week of may, so we emailed the MP who contacted them and the 2nd week of may finally went through, for one of CB it was halved abd the core was was just over half.

They said that there is more than 60% over for what has been budgeted and all reviews could take up to 6 months to go through and the older ones have been categorized  from highto low so depending on the circumstances the low categories could tak e up to a year or more with not a lot of money to help, and for all Autism/Aspergers they are now looking at changing the umbrella again and sub categorizing them into the 3 high medium and low and if they don't qualify for the high level then we loose the NDIS.

Re: Anyone started with the NDIS?

@saturnzoon Shait! thanks for the heads up 😮 that is shocking. My son  would have to be re evaluated re autism but he has severe schizophrenia and an intellectual disability and epilepsy so you know pick your poison he has it.  My ex was thinking of going to our local member but he/she is pretty pathetic but maybe we should consider it after all ...

Is that really true?? OMG! my son could lose his funding in the future?? So cruel. So cruel

Re: Anyone started with the NDIS?

@Bunniekins. Very annoying. They try to save a few bucks on each claim. When it's those few dollars that could make all the difference to someone's life.

Re: Anyone started with the NDIS?

@utopia Ridiculous next time I will set my son loose on them and then they will definately pass it. I cannot wait until the next elections.

Re: Anyone started with the NDIS?

Hi @saturnzoon thankyou for sharing your NDIS experience here.  I'm very sorry to hear things have broken down so much compared to how it was at the start for you.  Sounds like they're being very tricky re autism spectrum.    What do they expect a person to do between the end of a year and the time they (NDIS)  get around to doing the review?   It shouldn't have to involve an MP but I'm glad it made a difference for you.

Outrageous that reviews take so long to happen.  Not fair, especially considering they put a time limit on us in every communication.

I hope things go more smoothly for both of you @Bunniekins and @saturnzoon.

It seems like more and more people are falling through the gap between mainstream services (not NDIS) winding up and being able to get NDIS funded services.

Re: Anyone started with the NDIS?

@saturnmoon. That is disgusting behavior by NDIS. leaving you to fend for yourself for 4 months. And now this ridiculous low med high rule - where only the high mark gets in.
All these children need help regardless if what grade of low med high they out them in.

Re: Anyone started with the NDIS?

@eth What worries me is if my son ends up being tossed onto the waysie by the NDIS what then? What would he do? He would be a very, bored, angry young man with no day program to go to. His delusions and hallucinations would increase and he could become very dangerous indeed. It is extremely worrying that the NDIS are willy nilly doing this kind of thing without any true appreciation of the consequences to the client and families.

Re: Anyone started with the NDIS?

It's not ok at any level @Bunniekins  What a dilemma that would place you and your family in.   Hopefully things work out with them for you.  And remember there are supports that can help you like Disability Advocates.

I feel my responses are inadequate here but want you to know I feel for your situation @saturnzoon and @Bunniekins.

Re: Anyone started with the NDIS?

@eth thanks eth you are a star, just having your kind comments are enough and you have been through hell and back too  🙂 xxxx I have passed this info onto my son's dad as he will freak when reads it.
